The First Cask Glen Elgin 13 years old 2007 is a 13 year old Speyside single malt from the Glen Elgin distillery and one of the second (and last) batch releases in the Hollandse Meester / Van Gogh series from the Dutch independent bottler First Cask. This Glen Elgin was distilled in 2007 and matured in a bourbon hogshead. It was bottled in 2021 at cask strength of 56.2% cask strength, non chill filtered and with no added color, as a limited single cask release.
Nose: A delicious abundance of white and yellow fruit fills the nose, then freshly cut flowers (rose and lily) add more scents. Vanilla with “Karam Masala” and gingerbread make this a fresh, but also exotic whiskey.
Taste: The tongue is first caught by the herbs, followed by a wonderful combination of lemon, lime and orange
Finish: White herbs and bay leaf herald the aftertaste. It is spicy and holds the tongue for quite some time.
