Bruichladdich 2013 – 9 Years Old – Islay Barley
A characterful and elegant Bruichladdich Single Malt, distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 after nine years of maturation. This whisky beautifully demonstrates what Bruichladdich is known for: a distinct maritime character, combined with fresh fruit, soft maltiness, and refined spiciness.
Tasting Note
Nose:
Fresh and inviting with notes of sweet barley, green apple, citrus, and ripe pear. Beneath this lies a subtle briny sea breeze, vanilla, and a light hint of spices. As the whisky sits longer in the glass, more floral and fruity notes emerge.
Taste:
Full and creamy on the palate. Sweet malt, apple, citrus, and honey come to the fore first, followed by vanilla and a light pepperiness. The maritime influence provides a lovely salinity and gives the whisky extra tension and depth. Finish:
Medium to long, with a pleasant combination of sweet malt, citrus, soft spices, and a subtle briny note. The finish lingers fresh and lightly spicy.
Character:
A beautiful balance between fresh fruit, soft malt, vanilla, spiciness, and the characteristic briny character of Islay. A whisky that allows itself to be discovered slowly and reveals new nuances with every sip.
In short:
Fresh, fruity, malty, and lightly briny, with an elegant spiciness and a characterful Islay signature.
