Near Lafite Rothschild's château – you can see it from the outside – lies the hamlet of Anseillan. Since 1970, the land and the small stone houses have belonged to the estate. The plots surrounding Anseillan are currently being restructured, and for several years now, a new wine has been produced: Anseillan. A Pauillac from Château Lafite Rothschild, made by the same people who make the famous Lafites, with the same love and passion, knowledge, and skill. The 12-hectare Anseillan vineyard has always been part of the Lafite Rothschild estate. The grapes from this vineyard were used in the blends of Château Lafite and Carruades, the two wines of Château Lafite Rothschild. But even in this Premier Grand Clu Classé region, time doesn't stand still. Anseillan's grapes have a distinct personality, inspiring the winemakers at Château Lafite Rothschild to create a new wine. A gastronomic wine suitable for restaurants, with a rich and fruity flavor profile—and a more affordable price. Sustainability also plays a major role in this wine.

Many efforts are being made in the vineyards to ensure future sustainability, from harvesting vines to planting cover crops and a dedicated planting program to anticipate climate change. Anseillan lies east of Lafite Rothschild, between the château and the Gironde estuary. It boasts a wide variety of terroirs. Its northern exposure makes it cooler and the soil more clayey than the classic Lafite terroirs. The wine is made according to a classic Bordeaux recipe: alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden, concrete, and stainless steel vats. The total maceration time is approximately 20 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wines are transferred to French oak barrels for approximately 16 months. But what a treat! A juicy, lively, and exciting wine, with ripe blackberry fruit and fragrant aromas. The nose is typical of Pauillac. On the palate, the wine is broad and rich. The overall impression is very harmonious. This is a gastronomic wine that pairs beautifully with red meat and cheese.
