In 1862, Don Facundo Bacardí started a distillery near the port in Santiago de Cuba. Here he created Bacardí, the rum that became world famous for its smooth and fine taste. The bat is the logo of Bacardí. This symbol is a sign of prosperity, health and family unity in Spanish-speaking countries and has been on the label since the very first bottle.
