HIGHLAND PARK 17 YEARS – BETWEEN YOU & I BY LAILA GOHAR

A special, limited-edition release from Highland Park, created in collaboration with Egyptian-American artist and designer Laila Gohar. With this 17-year-old single malt, Highland Park brings together whisky, art, and personal memories in a unique way. The core concept behind this collaboration is that flavors evoke different memories and associations for everyone—an idea that inspired not only the whisky itself but also its presentation.

For this expression, Master Whisky Maker Marc Watson selected over 80 different casks to achieve the desired flavor profile. The whisky was matured for 11 years in refill casks, followed by an additional 6 years in new American oak. This imparts a distinct character, defined by vibrant fruit notes, creamy vanilla, and warm spices—all while retaining Highland Park’s signature, subtle smoky quality.

The collaboration with Laila Gohar draws inspiration from her Egyptian heritage and her own personal experience of the whisky. The aromas transported her to places such as a museum in Cairo, a sun-drenched courtyard in Andalusia, and the tropical slopes of a volcano. These impressions are reflected in the striking design of the packaging.

Tasting Note

Nose: A refined and aromatic bouquet featuring orange blossom, fresh citrus, creamy vanilla, and polished leather, with hints of toasted oak and warm spices in the background.

Palate: Full-bodied and vibrant, with notes of fresh citrus fruits and tropical fruit. The creamy sweetness of vanilla is complemented by nutmeg, black pepper, and a distinct influence from new American oak. Subtle smokiness and a touch of honey provide the signature Highland Park character.

Finish: Long and warming, with orange peel, sweet spices, and a pleasantly dry oak accent. Soft peat smoke remains subtly present in the background.
