Made with only neutral alcohol, sugar and a secret blend of 130 botanicals (plants and flowers), Green Chartreuse has been enjoyed around the world since 1840.
It is still bottled in the traditional Chartruse liqueur bottle, which bears the seal of La Grande Chartruse. The color is completely natural, derived from the botanicals used to make it. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives at all.
At any given time, only two Chartruse monks know the identities of the 130 botanicals. The secret of blending and distilling is kept and passed on where necessary. It is these two who know which plants to macerate, how to ensure the right color, and only they oversee the slow aging in oak barrels.
The green chartreuse has a lively bouquet with cedar, coriander, cardamom, anise, jasmine, rosemary, sage and basil aromas. The taste is deeply structured, with a spicy sweetness and mild pepper flavors.
