Beginning with the included B523 expression, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof will now be bottled in small batches with various age statements. Each batch of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof has its own unique flavor profile and alcohol content, as in previous years, and now also a unique age statement that preserves the extra-matured characteristics the brand is known for. All other qualities of the series remain the same: non-chill-filtered and uncut to preserve all natural esters and flavor compounds from cask to bottle. The variation in alcohol content, and now also age, from batch to batch is an exercise for true whisky lovers to experience the consistent quality within the series, while also revealing the unique complexity of each batch. Each label lists the lowest age of the cask within the batch, as required by law. The transition from the side to the label also provides more transparent details down to the month, regardless of the number of lowest-matured casks in that edition. Batches are selected for flavor and quality by the tasting team – Master Distiller Conor O'Driscoll, Master Taster Tawnie Gootee, and Vice President of New Product Development and Quality Assurance Chris Briney. This change allows for a true small-batch selection process, selecting the finest extra-matured stocks that deliver a phenomenal tasting experience.
