In the village of Vidor in the hills of Valdobbiadene lies the estate of La Tordera, where Bepi Vettoretti planted his first vines in 1918.
Today, La Tordera covers nearly 70 hectares and produces various Proseccos: the popular Frizzante and various types of Spumante. La Tordera strives to produce Prosecco in the most natural way possible. For instance, La Tordera is the only winery in the Veneto to hold a CasaClima certificate. This means that the winery was built using eco-sustainable materials and methods. For instance, they use solar panels to generate their own energy and recycle the water they use in the vineyard. La Tordera also uses as little sulfite as possible, and the bottles and labels are made from recycled glass and paper. The result: pure and fresh sparkling wines.
CLIMATE & TERROIR: A mild climate. The vineyards are located in
Rive di Guia, on old, clayey, and deep soils at an altitude of 300 m.
The steep terrain faces south; the high temperature range
gives the grapes a pronounced balance and freshness.
VINIFICATION: The grapes are pressed gently and whole.
The second fermentation takes place in small, sealed steel tanks for at least 90 days. No sugar at all is added to the must.
GRAPS: Glera
ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE: 12.00%
AROMA & TASTE: Fruity hints of wild apple, with aromas of
white flowers. The taste is intense and well-structured, with a
pleasant acidic freshness. The wine has a very fine, soft
mousse.
SERVING SUGGESTION: This wine pairs excellently with many
appetizers and fish dishes.
FUN FACT: Otreval has the ability to evolve; over
time, this wine reveals new aromatic profiles and the
complexity increases.
