Tasting Notes
Aroma
Open and creamy with vanilla fudge, coconut, and cream caramel. Behind this, lemon oil, green apple, and ripe pear, with a soft malty note reminiscent of freshly baked cookies. With some time, light spices emerge—ginger and white pepper—plus a hint of honey.
Taste
Full and punchy, clearly cask strength, but beautifully balanced. First vanilla and toffee, followed by citrus zest and juicy orchard fruit. The mid-palate gains more tension with toasted wood, a touch of ginger, peppery warmth, and a light nutty note that keeps the sweetness in check.
Finish
Long and slightly drying with persistent vanilla, citrus oil, and toasted wood notes. In the finish, spiciness and a fine bittersweet citrus note linger for a moment.
Lochlea Distillery
Lochlea Distillery is situated in the picturesque Lowlands of Scotland, in South Ayrshire, near the town of Tarbolton. Founded in 2018, the distillery is situated on a historic farm where the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns once worked. A distinctive feature of Lochlea Distillery is the use of barley grown on its own farm, ensuring complete control over the quality of the raw materials. The distillery utilizes traditional copper pot stills and a carefully controlled production process to create a premium single malt whisky. Lochlea whisky is known for its light and fruity character, with notes of apple, pear, and subtle spiciness. Maturation takes place in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and wine casks, contributing to the complexity and depth of the flavour profiles. Lochlea Distillery combines modern techniques with deep respect for local history and traditions, resulting in unique and high-quality whiskies that capture the essence of the Lowlands.
