Tasting Notes
Aroma: Dry, lively, yet mild. Immediately inviting, with honeyed spice notes. Oban's bright, maritime aromas are complemented by maturation in ex-bourbon casks with a rich, sweet-spicy depth. Light citrus notes surround this impression. Over time, hints of handkerchief develop. A drop of water brings out a faint, oily note and sweetens the aroma.
Palate: A smooth, creamy texture creates a seductively sweet and fruity flavor profile reminiscent of delicious canned peaches and toffee, becoming noticeably spicier towards the finish. The already well-balanced flavor is further enhanced by a drop of water. This reduces the intensity, adds a pinch of salt, intensifies the spiciness, and also creates a cooling mouthfeel, similar to Szechuan pepper.
Finish: Citrus notes, salty caramel, and gentle oak spice create a long, fruity-spicy finish.
