Octomore Edition 15.2 / 108.2 PPM

Bruichladdich’s Octomore 15.2 is a whisky that sounds almost excessive on paper: no less than 108.2 PPM peat and a robust 57.9% alcohol. Yet this Islay single malt demonstrates that extreme peat does not necessarily mean a loss of finesse and complexity.

Bruichladdich’s Octomore 15.2 is a whisky that sounds almost excessive on paper: no less than 108.2 PPM peat and a robust 57.9% alcohol. Yet, this Islay single malt demonstrates that extreme peat does not necessarily mean a loss of finesse and complexity.

After an initial maturation in second-fill wine and bourbon casks, the whisky received a finish in first-fill French cognac casks. It is precisely this combination that creates a remarkable interplay between smoke, fruit, sweetness, and spiciness.

Nose
A powerful yet surprisingly refined opening. First, the characteristic Octomore smoke comes to the fore: dry peat, wood smoke, and a hint of wet earth. Beneath this, vanilla, peach, mango, and sweet citrus appear, complemented by walnut and a light, green spiciness.

Taste
Full and intense, yet beautifully balanced. The peat smoke is clearly present without overpowering the other flavors. Mango, orange peel, and pineapple provide a fresh fruitiness, while notes of chocolate, cherries, vanilla, and roasted almonds add warmth and depth. The cognac finish adds a soft, slightly spicy sweetness.

Finish
Long, warm, and smoky. The smoke lingers for a long time, while citrus, sweet fruit, and a subtle salty note slowly give way to peat, wood, and a light spiciness. A finish that keeps returning and invites you to take the next sip. Tasting Profile
