Here’s another glimpse into the life of an independent bottler… Sometimes, we are offered remarkable whiskies from world-class distilleries, but there’s a catch — “you can have the whisky, but you can’t use the distillery’s name.” It’s both a blessing and a challenge. The liquid is excellent, the price is right, but we know you want to understand exactly what you’re drinking — and rightly so.
So, once again, we’ve put our thinking caps on and created Park Life — a short series of bottlings showcasing the character of one particularly legendary Highland distillery (for clarity, all Scottish islands except Islay fall into the Highland region). This isn’t from Islay. Or Mull. Or Skye. Or Jura. Or Arran.
This 20-year-old single malt has spent its entire maturation in an ex-bourbon cask, delivering a bright, elegant whisky that puts the distillery’s signature character front and centre. Sweet vanilla, subtle citrus, and soft heather combine with just the lightest wisp of smoke — a dram of beautiful balance and depth.
We’ve bottled this whisky as nature intended — un-chill filtered, natural colour, and without unnecessary intervention. As with all limited runs, this won’t last long… so we plan to enjoy this day in the park.
Nose
Fragrant bay leaf and fresh lemon zest intertwine with oak and a grounding earthiness.
Palate
Golden syrup, buttery popcorn and warm nutmeg sprawl over the palate followed closely by soft florals, heather, and a touch of spice
Finish
A gentle wisp of smoke lingers, with smooth caramel sweetness and a salty swish as the theatrical finale to show stopping dram.
