Product information
Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. Originally it was mainly a trading house, but today it owns more than 225 hectares of its own vineyards. The entire range includes wines from Chablis, Côte d’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Beaujolais, the latter mostly made at its own Château des Jacques. The starting point for all wines is that each vineyard has its own characteristics and that the terroir is therefore leading. For this reason, nature is allowed to take its course as much as possible and winemaker Frédéric Barnier recommends making as few interventions as possible during the vinification process. As a result, there is no such thing as a ‘Jadot style’, but each wine from Louis Jadot has its own character.

Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet Domaine Duc de Magenta Clos de La Garenne 1er Cru 2021, Burgundy, France

Climate/Terroir
Puligny-Montrachet is located south of Meursault and north of Chassagne-Montrachet, in the heart of the largest white vineyards in Burgundy. The Clos de la Garenne is located next to Les Folatières, on a stony soil close to the mother rock. This vineyard is very old and belongs to the domains of the Duke of Magenta. This family entrusts Maison Louis Jadot with the vinification of this wine, as well as the Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle.

Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small crates so as not to damage the grapes. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in oak barrels from our cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. The maturation usually lasts 15 months on fine lees before bottling.
