Background information:
Maison Sichel has been a family-owned winery in Bordeaux since 1883. The family is originally German, but the Bordeaux company was founded by the British branch. Grandfather Allan purchased Château Palmer in Margaux in 1938, along with three other families. The Sichel family still co-owns this now world-famous château. In 1961, his son Peter Allan, the father of the current management, and his wife Diana settled in the Bordeaux region with the purchase of Château Angludet, also in Margaux. He further developed the company in 1967 with the construction of a winery, the Cave Bel Air, in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Wines such as Les Hauts de Bel Air are vinified here.
