Nose: Fruity, estery notes are reminiscent of smoked bubblegum, complemented by hints of ripening barley and freshly baked sourdough bread. Add a few drops of water and a new dimension is released: rich, sweet peat smoke combined with softly smoked tropical fruits – an unusual but very appealing combination.
Palate: The rich, creamy texture sets the stage for a series of powerful impressions. Sharp, sooty and spicy notes soon take over, with clear accents of creosote, anise and clove. This intensity is nicely balanced by the sweetness of muscovado sugar, which gives a syrupy and warming feeling. As the whisky opens up further, woody influences and a deep charcoal character come to the fore – powerful but never overpowering.
Finish: Long, complex and memorable. Earthy peat moss melts into the crackling glow of a campfire, leaving the whisky lingering like a warm memory of a night under the stars.
