Cadenhead's Speyside 2008 Oloroso 17 Year Old – Enigma
An intriguing 17-year-old Speyside whisky, matured in Oloroso sherry casks. This Enigma edition combines the elegant, fruity character of Speyside with the rich, full-bodied influence of Oloroso. The result is a complex whisky where sweet, spicy, and dark fruit notes come together beautifully.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Rich and inviting, with aromas of raisins, prunes, and ripe cherries. Underlying notes of walnut, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and a hint of orange peel.
Palate:
Full-bodied and silky smooth, featuring notes of dark dried fruit, caramel, and dark chocolate. The Oloroso influence brings lovely nuttiness and spice, with accents of walnut, fig, cinnamon, and mild pepper. As the whisky lingers on the palate, a pleasant, almost syrupy sweetness emerges.
Finish:
Long and warm, with lingering notes of sherry, dark chocolate, raisins, and spicy wood tones. A subtle dryness and light spiciness provide a beautifully balanced finish.
