The Waterford Ballymorgan 1.2 is one of the first single malt whisky releases from the Waterford Distillery in Ireland. This second Ballmorgan release was bottled in the Farm Origin Series focused on terroir in whisky.This particular expression was made using Overture barley grown by Robert Milne in County Wexford. The Ballmorgan matured in first fill American Oak, European new oak, French oak and Vin Doux Naturel barrels and was bottled in 2020 at 50% ABV as a limited edition of 9000 bottles.
Nose: Enjoyably chocolatey, with hints of tangy fruit sneaking through
Palate: Heavy vanilla and apple, leading to chocolate and lemon later on, plus a hint of clove
Finish: Cedar, barley and another hint of fresh green apple sweetness
