Initially laid to rest in a refill hogshead, this lovely Strathmill offers a beautiful buttery aroma on the nose that is reminiscent of freshly baked pastries. The scent of Valencia oranges and delicate flowers can also be detected, along with a subtle hint of pear. Upon tasting, notes of fresh dough, toffee and dark berries are immediately apparent, accompanied by a syrupy mouthfeel that is both rich and satisfying. A subtle touch of menthol adds a refreshing quality to the taste, while a hint of white asparagus lends a slightly earthy note to the overall profile. The finish is long and lingering, with a subtle spiciness that is reminiscent of freshly crushed white pepper. The use of fresh Tawny Port Quarter casks during the last 2 years of the aging process is very evident, adding a subtle sweetness and complexity to the final whisky, with notes of various nutes, milk chocolate and dried fruits. This whisky is a true delight for the senses, offering a complex yet balanced profile that is sure to please even the most discerning of drinkers.
