The Claxton's Exploration Series Islay 5 years old 2017 is a 5 year old Islay single malt from an unnamed distillery bottled by the independent bottler Claxton's in their Exploration Series. This Islay was distilled on January 30, 2017 and matured in a bourbon barrel. It was bottled on January 11, 2023 at 50% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour, as a limited single cask release.
Nose: A western storm on the coast, salty peat smoke. Lightly fried/bbq (smoke) sausages.
Taste: Sweet pepper, notes of seaweed with sea salt. Powerful Turf Smoke as only 1 can be.
Finish: Smoked meat and slightly salty.
