Claxton’s Glen Elgin 2006 – 14 Years Old

An elegant and refined Speyside Single Malt from Glen Elgin, selected and bottled by Claxton’s. This 14-year-old whisky has developed its character in a sherry butt, creating a beautiful balance between fresh fruit, soft sweetness, and spicy wood notes.

Tasting Notes

Nose
Soft and inviting with ripe pear, Golden Delicious apple, and light floral notes. Beneath these, hints of honey, toffee, and fresh barley emerge. A subtle spiciness adds extra depth to the nose.

Taste
Full and smooth, with sweet malt and ripe summer fruit. Pear and berries are complemented by notes of vanilla, soft oak, and barley sugar. As the whisky opens up, light spices and a touch of dried fruit come to the fore.

Finish
Pleasantly warm and elegant. Sweet fruit and vanilla remain present, followed by soft spiciness and a subtle touch of wood. The finish is refined and beautifully balanced, with sufficient length to savor for a little while longer.

Character: fruity • floral • softly spicy • malty • elegant

In short: a beautiful, accessible Glen Elgin in which the fresh, fruity Speyside character blends beautifully with the warm influence of the sherry cask. A whisky that will particularly appeal to enthusiasts who love elegance, fruit, and subtle spiciness, without the wood overpowering the spirit.
