Distilled on 5th June 2011 this whisky spent its whole 12-year life maturing in cask #2124, maturation taking place in a 1st fill Bourbon barrel from an unknown American distillery.
The complexity of this Port Charlotte SC:01 2012 pushes the outer limits of Islay single malt as you know it. Commanding our distillery's two utmost obsessions, it is impeccable provenance meets high quality French oak.
This limited release of 209 bottles comes from barrel number 667, a first-fill ex-sherry butt of European oak. It is one of the last batches of the Port Ellen production produced just weeks before the distillery closed its doors in May of the same year. D

A classic Bordeaux with aromas of dark red fruit and cedar wood. The taste shows that cherry fruit in all its freshness, in addition to a multitude of spicy aromas, chocolate and a firm tannin structure.
